The Panda Had Good Intentions
Pixar's Turning Red has sparked controversy, with some sides claiming the film was in bad taste, some calling it Satanic pedofile material, and others calling it courageous, honest, and even "horny." Personally, I have mixed feelings on the movie. Overall, I think the movie's basic message of self-acceptance and generational trauma is good, but much of the movie strayed into areas that were indeed in poor taste, and I don't feel that those elements were even necessary to the plot. What is equally concerning is how almost any critique of the movie is immediately labled "sexist" and "racist" since the director was an Asian woman. I don't care who directed a movie. If the movie is good, then it's good. If it's bad, then it's bad.
